B&B Italia

August 8, 2001

Since the 60′s B&B Italia has been making contemporary furniture that epitomises modern design.  The company has kept on the cutting-edge of lifestyle trends and tastes.  Their impressive list of designers include Antonio Citterio and Paolo Nava for the “Diesis” sofa (1979), Citterio’s “Sity” System which introduced the modular furniture concept which has now become their trademark.  More recently the company has introduced the “Domus” storage system (1989), the “Charles” (1979) system and the “George” (2001) System.

In 2007 our current favourite arrived, designed by world famous architect Zaha Hadid, the “Moon System” is typically B&B.  A wonderfully dynamic shape which redefines the concept of seating with the seats back, seating and armrests shaped as a single block.  It wouldn’t look out of place on the Starship Enterprise.

B&B Italia have established stores in a number of cities worldwide including London, New York, Milan, Tokyo, San Paolo and Cologne.  The stores are wonderful design destinations in their own right, with the London store in Brompton Road featuring sheet glass, natural stone and bronze.  A striking showcase for this collection of contemporary furnishings.

"Designed in 2000, the B&B Italia Showroom London is the product of collaboration between three pioneers of contemporary design: John Pawson who was assigned for the new architecture, Antonio Citterio designed the striking interiors that would meet Pawson’s needs, and B&B Italia produced its own distinctive sets."
