Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh

August 5, 2001

This classical Edwardian building enjoys a prime location in the heart of Edinburgh, dominating the east end of Princes Street. The Balmoral is a luxury destination in every sense of the word.  From the prime location next to Waverley Station to the 188 opulent suites and rooms that have just been given a £7 million facelift.  Heaven.

Tastefully decorated bedrooms are elegantly furnished and equipped with a thoughtful range of facilities. Public areas include the elegant Palm Court bar, a popular venue for afternoon teas, a smart Roman-style health spa and two contrasting restaurants; the Michelin starred Number One Restaurant for fine dining and Hadrians, a cosmopolitan brasserie.

Rooms
The Balmoral has 168 rooms and 20 suites.  The decor borrows from Scottish heritage while retaining a contemporary elegance.

Facilities
There are eight conference suites available at the hotel.  The Balmoral Spa offers five treatment rooms, a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gymnasium and exercise studio.

Dining
The Michelin starred number one is recognised internationally as one of Scotland’s best restaurants.  The restaurant won the “Fine Dining Experience” Award at the Scottish Restaurant Awards in 2008.  Hadrian’s offers delicious food in an informal, chic setting.  The stylish interior has distinct Art Deco influences.  The Palm Court is great for cocktails or traditional afternoon tea.

"A luxury hotel in the true sense of the word, The Rocco Forte Collection's Balmoral, with its majestic clock tower, is a stylish five-star property in the very heart of Edinburgh. While many Edinburgh hotels claim to have Edinburgh's landmarks on their doorstep, few can say their doorstep is a landmark."

"Almost directly above the Waverley Rail Station, the building features a soaring clock tower that is one of the city's landmarks, famously set 5 minutes fast for the benefit of those on the way to the train. Kilted doormen supply the Scottish atmosphere from the start."

"Hotel amenities include a Roman-style health spa, extensive function facilities, a choice of bars and two very different dining options; Number One offers inspired fine dining whilst Hadrians is a bustling, informal brasserie."
